Biographical History

Artist. Daughter of C.Y. O'Connor who came with his family from New Zealand to Western Australia in 1891. Studied art at Perth Technical College with James Linton. In 1910 went to live and work in Paris. During her years in Paris sought the company and advice of impressionist artists such as Vuillard and Bonnard. In 1948 returned to Perth and held a retrospective exhibition of her work. Stayed for three years before returning to France in 1951. After spending time in London, Nice and Paris, returned to Perth in 1955 where she continued to paint, although not always successful in securing commissions. Ailsa Osborne, art dealer and gallery director in Adelaide, arranged a successful exhibition of her work in 1965. Died in Perth in 1968.
