Biographical History

Bentley Ball Fulton was born on August 29, 1889, in Newark, Ohio. He earned a B.A. from Ohio State University (1912), an M.S. from the University of Chicago (1916), and a Ph.D. from Iowa State College (1926). He performed entomology research at the New York Agricultural Experiment Station (1912-1919), Oregon Agricultural Experiment Station (1919-1924), and the Iowa Experiment Station (1924-1928). From Iowa, Fulton moved to North Carolina and taught entomology at North Carolina State College from 1928 until his retirement in August, 1954. While at the college, he researched numerous crop pests. He was elected to the North Carolina Academy of Science in 1955. Fulton died on December 9, 1960. He was survived by his wife Ida and their two children.
