Biographical History
Sir Julius Caesar was admitted to the Inner Temple in 1580 and received his doctor of laws degree from Oxford in 1584. In the same year he became judge of the admiralty court and master of the chancery. In 1591 Elizabeth I conferred upon Caesar the post of master of requests.
Sir Julius Caesar was Chancellor of the Exchequer from 1606-1614. Caesar's tenure coincided with the period during which James I's financial difficulties and the consequent tension between him and the parliament reached their extreme point.
