The program in African-American Studies at Princeton University is a course of study offered to undergraduates at Princeton University, supervised by an interdepartmental committee and taught by faculty from twelve cooperating departments. Organized in 1969 under the title Afro-American Studies, the program was funded early on by generous grants from the Ford Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation. Professors in the program have included such notable names in African-American literature and scholarship as Toni Morrison and Cornel West, who served as chairman from 1988-1994.
