Biographical History

Lansdowne Friends School was established in 1902 on the grounds of Lansdowne Monthly Meeting (Orthodox) under a school committee of the monthly meeting and the supervision of the Committee on Education of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. It was located at 110 N. Lansdowne Ave. One building is called Garrett House. In 1959-1960, a building next door, at 120 N. Lansdowne Ave., was purchased and renovated as an apartment for a meeting secretary on the upper floors and additional school space on the ground floor. A school workshop was proposed for the basement area.
