Biographical History
Thomas Jefferson Hartman (1874-1957) graduated from Oklahoma A & M College in 1898. He became the first graduate to serve on the Board of Regents (1902-1906). Hartman worked as a banker throughout his life and, along with his wife Mary Jarrell Hartman (1884-1967), was an avid supporter of the college. Mr. Hartman helped build Old Central and other early buildings on the OAMC campus. He was founder of the Half Century Club and a president of the OAMC Alumni Association.
Founded December 1890 as Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical (A & M) College; officially became Oklahoma State University in 1957.
