Biographical History

Bruce Trinkley received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in musical composition from Columbia University (1966, 1970), where he directed the Glee Club. He came to Penn State in 1970 as an assistant professor in the Department of Music, and became an associate professor in 1976 and a full professor of music in the late 1990s. In addition to his position as director of the Glee Club, he taught undergraduate and graduate composition, conducting, music history, and opera and choral literature. He also served as music director of the Penn State Festival Theatre and Centre Stage. He joined the Intercollegiate Musical Council's Board of Directors in 1982. In 2002 his opera, York: The Voice of Freedom, (with Jason Charnesky) was performed at Penn State; its cast included members of the New York City Opera.
