Biographical History
David Cooper was an Elder, peacemaker, farmer, as well as one of the most vocal anti-slavery Quakers in the late 1700s from South Jersey. He is associated with Philadelphia Monthly Meeting. Cooper was born on the 24th of the 2nd month 1725 to John and Ann Cooper. In 1747 he married Sybil Matlack and the couple had six children: Martha, Amos, Elizabeth, Paulo, Ann, and William. Cooper is the father-in-law of Samuel Allinson, an attorney and general from NJ, and husband to his daughter Martha. Cooper died on the 5th of the 11th month 1795 in his 71st year.
