Archie Leslie Clark was born in Butte, Montana, on August 23, 1896, the youngest of 8 children of William A. and Anna Clark. As a young man he went to work for the Montana Standard newspaper. He was city editor for the Butte Miner during the 1920s, and a reporter for the Great Falls Tribune from about 1937 to about 1960. For many years Clark researched the history of various theatre troups and the actors and actresses who travelled the western United States during the second half of the nineteenth century. Clark died in Butte on January 6, 1988.
