Biographical History
First Church (also known as First Parish Church) gathered in 1638; in 1811 the First Church opted for Unitarianism and the Trinitarian, more orthodox members, led by Rev. Jonathan Burr (who was locked out of the building and dismissed in 1811), split off to form a second church known as Calvinistic Congregational Church; later these were reunited under the name: Federated Church; in 1965 reorganized as First Church of Christ.
