Biographical History
Vice admiral, United States Navy; director of military assistance, Department of Defense, 1965-1968.
Luther Carl Heinz was born June 15, 1912, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his commission as Ensign in the U.S. Navy in 1933, and advanced through grades to the rank of vice admiral in 1965. He commanded the Amphibious Forces, Atlantic Fleet, from 1968 to 1971. Heinz died in April 1987, in Coronado, California.
