Biographical History
Bernhisel was a medical doctor and the first Utah Territorial delegate to Congress. He obtained permission to copy the Book of Moses from Joseph Smith's bible from Emma Smith and donated it to Brigham Young.
John M. Berhisel (1799-1881) was a medical doctor and first Utah Territorial delegate to Congress. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1842. He also served as the first vice-president of ZCMI and was one of the founders of the University of Deseret.
