Biographical History
Francis B. Mallon was a United States (U.S.) Army officer. He saw service as a second lieutenant of infantry with the 2nd, 24th, 27th and 62nd Infantry Regiments from 1912-1917. He commanded a Replacement Battalion and saw action in Paris and France during 1919 and was stationed with the 8th Infantry in Coblenz, Germany until 1922. After various assignments during the 1920s and 1930s with the 28th and 30th Infantry Regiments, he went to Washington from 1939-1940 as a member of the Supply Division of the War Department. He was assigned as executive officer of that division in August 1940. In December 1941, he was assigned as commanding officer of the Branch Immaterial Replacement Training Center, Camp Joseph T. Robinson, Arkansas. He was named commanding general, Army Ground Forces Replacement Depot No. 1, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, in July 1943. In July 1945, he became commanding general, Army Ground Forces Replacemnt Depot No. 4 at Camp Adair, Orgeon. In March 1946 he was assigned to a detachment of patients, Army Service Forces Regional Station Hospital, Fort Ord, California. On May 5, 946 he was ordered home to await retirement.
