Johnston Avery (b. May 12, 1901, Morganton, North Carolina-d. October 1, 1970, Baltimore, Maryland), newspaperman, political campaign aide, government official and businessman. Avery was Assistant Director of the Decartelization Branch of the U.S. Office of Military Government in Berlin, Germany, from 1946 to 1948.
