Biographical History

Beverly Everett, farmer, substitute teacher, speaker, writer, and professional volunteer, was from a musical Iowa farm family. Active in 4-H and the Farm Bureau, Everett emphasized the importance of women's roles in agriculture. Everett was also deeply involved in the American Association of University Women (AAUW), through which she gave many speeches across the country. Through the AAUW, Everett also became involved with UNESCO, which broadened her activities to an international arena.

She was also appointed by President Jimmy Carter to the National Commission on the Observance of International Women's Year in 1976. Her musical background came to the fore when she organized the statewide Rural Music History Celebration in 1986.
