Levin Hicks Campbell was a United States (U.S.) Army officer. He was a lieutenant in the coast artillery; captain to lieutenant general in the Ordnance Department (Dept.) and Chief of Ordnance from 1942 to 1946.
Levin Hicks Campbell (1886-1976) was born in Washington, DC. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1909 and resigned from the Navy to accept a commission with the Coast Guard Artillery Corps. He served in the office of the chief of ordnance during World War I and again from 1940 to 1941. He was promoted to the rank of brigadier general in October 1940. While assistant chief of industrial service in the office of the chief of ordnance, he made major general in April 1942. From 1942 to 1946, he was chief of ordnance. He made lieutenant general in April 1945 and retired in May 1946.
