Biographical History
The Jolly Sewing Circle of Blue Mound, Linn County, Kansas was organized in 1912 by women who desired a neighborhood club to help each other out on projects such as quilting. In 1931 the local group joined the Linn County federation and in 1935 the state and national Federation of Women's Clubs organizations. The group became a study club, following the program of the Federation and contributing to all Federation projects, as well as working on their own community projects. The Blue Mound circle had its own club song, and programs over the years included book reviews, guest speakers, local musicians, film presentations, style shows, and presentations such as from welfare workers or the Highway Patrol. The Blue Mound Jolly Sewing Circle was part of the 2nd district of the Kansas Federation of Women's Clubs.
