Biographical History

Samuel Black McCormick, a Presbyterian minister, lawyer and educator, served as Chancellor of the University of Pittsburgh from 1905 to 1920. During his tenure, the University's name was changed from the Western University of Pennsylvania and the campus was moved from Pittsburgh's North Side to the Oakland section.
