Biographical History

From the description of Gurdon Saltonstall esqr govr and commander in chief of His Majesties colony of Connecticut in New England to John Williams gentl., greeting : I do by these presents constitute and appoint you to be captain of a foot company consisting of English and Indians raised in this colony for defence of the frontiers against Indians ..., 1724 July 9.
