Biographical History

The Educational Board of the General Baptists of Indiana founded Oakland City College in 1885 when they drafted a charter to incorporate a college in Gibson County, Indiana. Classes began in 1891 and by the 1920s the college operated schools in normal, theological, liberal arts, and agriculture. The school continues to this day and operates under the name Oakland City University. In the summer of 1931 a group of fifteen students and chaperones from the college traveled to the Western United States. Edna Martin, one of the students created this scrapbook as a chronicle of the trip.

From the description of Western trip scrapbook, 1931. (Indiana Historical Society Library). WorldCat record id: 61921748
