Biographical History

Andrew Kimball, the son of Heber Chase Kimball and Ann A. Gheen, was born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1858. While a teenage boy he supported his mother and sisters and worked in different positions for the Utah Central Railroad Company. In 1882, he married Olive Woolley and two years later left for his mission to the Indian Territory to preach to the Cherokees. After his return home in 1887 he became increasingly active in Utah politics and with the Deseret Sunday School Union while remaining president of the Indian Territory Mission. Upon his realease from his mission position in 1897, he became president of the St. Joseph Stake in the Gila Valley region of eastern Arizona. Until his death in 1924 he not only served as stake president, but became well known in Arizona politics and agricultural circles. He was survived by his third wife and two sons and a daughter.
