Biographical History

The Merrifield Building Trust was organized by declaration of trust made by Henry K. Merrifield, Samuel L. Powers, and Leslie Wead, as trustees, on the basis of well known real estate trusts of the City of Boston. The objects of the trust was to acquire and improve certain real estate in the City of Worcester and to manage the same. The properties were based on a land tract and industrial buildings originally purchased by William Trowbridge Merrifield in 1839, some of which were consumed by two fires in 1854 and 1921.
