Biographical History

American artist George Schneeman was born March 11, 1934, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He received a BA in Philosophy and Literature from St. Mary's College, Winona, Minnesota and did graduate work in English Literature at the University of Minnesota. He later served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960. In addition to his collage, frescoes, ceramics and other media, Schneeman has created numerous collaborative works with poets such as Bill Berkson, Ted Berrigan, Michael Brownstein, Ron Padgett, Anne Waldman, Tom Clark and others.
