Biographical History
Scholarly association founded 1965; promotes the study of literature and cultures of the North American West.
The work and funding for A Literary History of the American West was made possible through a research grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and sponsored by the Western Literature Association. Augustana College, South Dakota, served as the business office and Utah State University served as the editing office for this project. J. Golden Taylor (1912-1982) served as editor-in-chief and Thomas J. Lyon served as senior editor. A Literary History of the American West is (as the title suggests) a 1,353 page book analyzing literature from the American West.
