Biographical History

The Barn theatre, Augusta, Michigan, has been in operation as a summer stock threatre since 1949. The building was erected in 1943 and served as an active dairy barn until Jack and Betty Ragotzy from Richland, Michigan, began renting it as The Village Players, a group they formed in 1946. Betty died in 1995 and Jack died in 2004. Their son, Brendan and his wife, Penelope now own and operate the theater.
