Biographical History
The Institute for Women's Policy Research was founded in 1987 by Heidi Hartmann, a pioneering feminist economist. Its mission is to conduct women-centered policy-oriented research and to disseminate its findings in order to address the needs of women, promote public dialogue, and strengthen families, communities, and societies. The IWPR is an independent non-profit organization affiliated with graduate programs in public policy and women's studies at George Washington University.
