Biographical History
Carita Doggett Corse was the director of the Florida Federal Writers' Project from its inception in 1935 until 1942. She was the author of a number of historical publications including "The Key to the Golden Islands" and "Dr. Andrew Turnbull and the New Smyrna Colony of Florida" which was an account of her great-great-great grandfather's role in the founding of that colony. She attended Vassar College, earned her master's degree at Columbia University and received an honorary doctorate of letters from the University of the South.
