Biographical History

Charleston, South Carolina plantation owner and businessman. His uncle was Peter Gaillard Stoney, and his grandfather was John Stoney, who made a claim against the U.S. government for the seizure of his merchant ship by the French in the 1790s. William Edmund Stoney was the son of Peter Gaillard Stoney.
