Biographical History

Henry Clay Morrison was a world-famous Methodist evangelist, camp-meeting and revival preacher. In 1890 he started the Pentecostal Herald, for which he wrote articles and editorials the rest of his life. He also wrote some 25 popular books. He was president of Asbury College 1910-1925 and 1933-1940. He founded Asbury Theological Seminary in 1923 and served as its president from 1923-1942.

Emily Morrison Chandler wos the 4th child and the 1st daughter by his 2nd wife. Following her mother's death when she was 10, Emily lived with her Aunt Emma (Morrison's sister) for several years until she attended Asbury College. These letters were sent from Morrison to Emily while he was on preaching tours.
