Biographical History

Carleton Hunt (1836-1921) earned his Harvard AB 1856. He was from Louisiana and received a commission as a first lieutenant of artillery from the governor of Louisiana in 1861. He was captured by federal forces but was paroled. He went to New York and wrote a brief memoir there in 1864. He later became a law professor and dean at the University of Louisiana (which is now Tulane University) and a member of the United States Congress.
