Biographical History

Seybold was born in Topeka, Kan. in 1897 and graduated fron West Point in 1920. He pursued Army engineer studies and was on a 3 year tour in the Canal Zone during the 1920's. From 1934-38 he was with the Vicksburg Engineer District. He became a 2nd Lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers in 1922, rose to Captain (1935), Major (1940), Lt. Colonel (1943), Colonel (1944) and Brigadier General (1951).

During World War II he was with the engineers in the North African and European theater of operations. From 1945-1950 he was the district engineer at: Syracuse, N.Y., Baltimore, Md., Garrison, N.D. and asst. division engineer at Missouri River. He was appointed Governor of the Canal Zone and President of the Panama Canal Co. (1952-1956) and was on the retired Army list as Major General in 1955.
