Biographical History

First Congregational Church, Bradford, Iowa, organized in 1855; population of Bradford diminished and area absorbed by Nashua ca. early 1900s; church membership lapsed during World War II but shortly afterwards reorganized and name changed to First Congregational Christian Church; renamed Little Brown Church ca. 1950 in honor of the song "The Little Brown Church in the Vale" (written about the church in 1857 and sung for the first time by William S. Pitts); remains a viable church today, loosely affiliated with the United Church of Christ.
