Arthur Starkweather was born 31 January 1739 in Connecticut to Joseph and Anna Starkweather. He married Ruth Wood and had seven children. He died 3 October 1799 in Galway, Saratoga, N.Y. Arthur's son Avery (born 1767 in Preston, CT died 1828 in Eagle Harbor, N.Y.) married Sarah Meech and was the father of Avery Meech Starkweather, 1790-1865, perhaps the "A. M. Starkweather" of BMS 5. He was a member of the Assembly from Saratoga in 1812 and 1814 and associate judge 1815, 1816 he came to Orleans County and bought 150 acres from the Holland Land Company in the Town of Barre, the first superintendent of Erie Canal Repairs from Holley to Lockport, and the postmaster at Eagle Harbor, supervisor of Town of Barre for 1842-3. "J.B. Starkweather" of BMS 4 and BMS 5 perhaps is Joel B. Starkweather of Gaines, N.Y., 1830 to 1877, son of Seth Starkweather and Harriet Blair. Seth, born in Saratoga 1775 - died at Gaines in1855, was a son of Arthur, brother of Avery. Many Starkweathers are buried in Mount Albion Cemetery, Albion, N.Y. Horace O. Goold lived in Yates, Orleans County, N.Y. and was a Life Member of the Orleans Co. League in 1862.
