Biographical History

Theodore "Ted" Zittel, born March 28, 1903, was a reporter and labor union representative and publicist. In 1937, Zittel worked as a representative for the American Telegraphists Association, the Transport Workers Union, and was an active member in the American Newspaper Guild. In 1941, he represented the Hotel and Restaurant Employees International Alliance during its seven year strike against the Brass Rail Restaurant in New York City. Zittel also wrote articles for the Daily Worker under the pen name "Ted Benson." He was stricken with a heart attack and died on April 25, 1950.
