Biographical History

The Endeavour Space Shuttle had its first flight in 1992 and was retired in 2011. It was named for the British HMS Endeavour, Captain James Cook's ship, on his first voyage of discovery (1768–1771). It flew 25 missions. Since its retirement Endeavour is housed at the California Science Center.
