Biographical History

Henry Rothschild was born in 1870 in Heilbronn to parents Wilhelm and Stella Rothschild née Schott. His mother was a journalist and writer. After the death of his father he took over the family business, the Adler company, together with his two brothers Albert and Max. Rothschild was active in the Jewish community in Frankfurt both as a leader and philanthropist. He was a friend and benefactor of Bertha Pappenheim and supported the establishment of the the Frankfurt Lehrhaus, specifically by building a private apartment for Franz Rosenzweig in the top story of his own home. He married Bertha Merzbach in 1901 and they had four daughters.
