Biographical History
Bethuel "B. G." Gross was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, March 7, 1905, and died in Chicago, Illinois, on March 25, 1991. He received degrees in music, music education, and psychology. Gross served as the organist and music director at a number of churches including the St. James Methodist Church in Chicago and the Baker Memorial united Methodist Church in St. Charles, IL. He held positions on the music department faculty of the University of Akron, Shurtleff College, and Loyola University Chicago. At Loyola Gross produced a number of original compositions for events and played the organ during commencement. In addition to his faculty positions, Gross served as the Industrial Relations Director at the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago and as the Executive Secretary for the Northtown Industrial Management Club. He wrote extensively on the subject of "personalysis" and was a prominent speaker and columnist for the Musical Leader, Liberalist, and Food Management journals.
