Biographical History

Aksel Nielsen (1901-1984), businessman, friend, and political advisor to Dwight D. Eisenhower, was born in Denmark. He immigrated to the United States in 1910, and became a naturalized citizen in 1922. Eisenhower appointed Nielsen to the Advisory Commission on Government Housing Policies and Programs in 1953, and from 1958 to 1959, he served as a member of the Civil and Defense Mobilization Board.
