Biographical History
The Grand Forks Federation of Clubs was organized on April 2, 1897 with the objective to "bring the numerous clubs of Grand Forks into closer and more sympathetic relations, in the hope that each may profit by a better knowledge of the work of the other, and also to serve as a means of communication and the prosecution of any work of common interest." The first Federation officers were: Madam Bushee, President; Mrs. C.C. Gowran, Vice President; Mrs. J.N. Kelly, Secretary; Mrs. H.L. Whithed, Treasurer. Charter members clubs include: Pioneer Reading Club, No Name Club, S.I. Club, Athenaeum Reading Club, Current Topics Club, Wise and Otherwise, Mother's Club, Riverside Club, Tourists' Club, Omega Club, Poet's Club, Monday Club.
