Biographical History

Born Sept. 28, 1874, N.Y.C., daughter of Alburn Hager Krum and Ethalind Brainerd. Grad. from City Normal College (later Hunter) in 1894; taught school until moved with her family to Detroit. Taught in Detroit Public Schools from 1897-98. Employed by Detroit Public Library July, 1900. Worked in Catalog Dept., attended the Library training class and was appointed librarian of the Lothrop Branch. In 1914 began organizing the private library of Clarence M. Burton which had been presented to the D.P.L. and was still housed in Mr. Burton's former residence on Brainard Street. It was removed to the new library building in 1921. She retired from the Library in 1941. She was active in many historical and patriotic societies. Holding offices in the Detroit Historical Society, the D.A.R., Daughters of Founders and Patriots and others. She died in Detroit August 14, 1957 and was buried in N.Y.C. (blue index cards)
