Biographical History

The son of Alexander Ferguson, born in Scotland on May 17, 1841, and later immigrated to Channahon, Will County, Illinois, with his family as a small boy. He and his brothers William and Alexander, and his uncle John Burden, served in the Union Army during the Civil War.

Daniel enlisted in the 113th Illinois Infantry. His brother William served with Company D of the 1st U.S. Artillery. Alexander became Captain of Company C of the 1st Regiment of the Freedman Enrolled Militia, Department of West Tennessee. After the war, Dan returned to Minooka, Illinois, where he was a merchant and a banker. He later married Libbie A. Worthing of Seward, Kendall County, Illinois.
