Biographical History

John Green Brady (1848-1918), Yale Class of 1874, arrived in Alaska in 1878 and in 1881 he founded the Sitka Boys' Home for the Presbyterian Board of Home Missions. He became involved in Alaskan politics, was appointed an United States Commissioner in 1884 and Alaskan governor in 1897, serving until 1906 when a political conflict caused his resignation. He later became H. D. Reynolds's business partner, investing in the development of Alaska, and spent his last years lecturing and writing on Alaska.
