Biographical History
David C. Robinson was born in 1826, possibly in Tennessee. Family tradition states that he resided in St. Louis, Missouri, before coming to Texas in the 1850s. A resident of Guadalupe County, Texas, in 1860, Robinson also lived in Floresville, Wilson County, before settling in San Antonio, where he worked as a lawyer. He served as the San Antonio City Attorney under Reconstruction Mayor Wilhelm Thielepape; was a County Judge in 1884; and represented Bexar County as a Democrat in the State Legislature for two terms (1887-1891).
Robinson married St. Louis native Eliza Magdelene Wetzel (1826-1911). The couple had six children: Susan (1857-1959); Fannie (born 1859); Hope (1860-1932); Brent (1862-1959), who married Canadian Jonathan “Jack” Locke (1865-1933); Dick (born circa 1867); and Margaret (born circa 1871), who married Jonathan Locke’s brother, Colin. David Robinson died in San Antonio on 1891 June 4.
