Hugh M. Woodward (1881-1940) was a teacher that taught at a number of grade schools and universities, including Brigham Young University.
Hugh McCurdy Woodward was born December 20, 1881 in Utah. He taught elementary school, middle school, high school, and graduate school. He married Emily Timothy on October 18, 1905. He received his A.B. from Brigham Young University (BYU), his masters degree from the University of Utah, he got his Ph.D. from the University of California. He was the principlal of St. George Academy and Dixie Normal College. He served at the Bureau of Education in Washington D.C. He taught at BYU and at the University of Washington. He and Emily adopted three children. He was the Work Progress Administration director of Education and Recreation. He died on August 11, 1940 in San Francisco, California.
