Biographical History
Theodore Saloutos, an eminent historian of agrarian politics and reform movements, was born in Milwaukee, Wis., son of immigrant parents from Peloponnisos. He taught at the University of Wisconsin, Oberlin College, and the University of California, Los Angeles. While at Oberlin College he began work on Greek immigration which ultimately resulted in publication of The Greeks in the United States (1964). He was deeply involved in Greek community affairs, participating in organizations such as the Sons of Pericles (Milwaukee), the Order of AHEPA, the Hellenic University Club of Southern California, and the Save Cyprus Council of Southern California. Saloutos wrote several major works and numerous articles, and was a frequent speaker.
