The Harris, Minge, and Duggar families settled in Marengo and Hale Counties, Alabama, in the 1820's. Sallie Melville Minge, known as Melville to her family, was married to Richard Norfleet Harris, Jr. Sallie Minge Harris's sister, Margaret Louisa Minge, married Reuben Henry Duggar in 1864. Richard Norfleet Harris, Jr.'s, sister, Amanda, married John Little.
