Computer & Communications Industry Association (U.S.).

The Computer & Communications Industry Association was founded in 1972 in order to represent the interests of its members before the U. S. Congress, executive branch and federal agencies on matters of domestic and foreign trade, capital formation and tax policy, federal procurement policy, and industry standards.

CCIA's membership comprises mainframe vendors, software and service houses, leasing and maintenance companies, peripheral manufacturers, data communications equipment manufacturers and specialized common carriers. CCIA seeks to stimulate free and open competition. It works with the American National Standards Institute and the National Bureau of Standards. It keeps its members informed of regulatory reform, telecommunications policy, data privacy and government procurement policies. CCIA conducts quarterly reviews of trends in technology and the market environment and maintains a library of materials introduced into the public domain as a result of antitrust suits, press clippings, FCC filings, Congressional hearing records, and industry analyses.
