1969, College of Industrial Management and Textile Science created. Composed of departments of Accountancy, Economics, Professional Development, Industrial Management and Textiles. W.D. Trevillian, Dean. 1980 (July), Thomas D. Efland named Acting Dean. 1982, name changed to College of Commerce and Industry.
Significant dates in the history of the College of Industrial Management and Textile Science are as follows: School of Textiles created in 1898; Textile Department established as successor to School of Textiles, 1923; School of Textiles established as successor to Textile Department, 1933; Department of Industrial Management established, 1955; School of Industrial Management and Textile Science created by merger of School of Textiles and Department of Industrial Management. The Master of Science degree in management offered, 1962; Reorganized into Economics, Industrial Management and Textiles, and the Professional Development departments in 1968; College of Industrial Management and Textile Science established in 1969 as successor to the School of Industrial Management and Textile Science and was composed of the Department of Accountancy, Economics, Professional Development, Industrial Management and Textiles; College of Commerce and Industry established in 1981 as successor to the College of Industrial Management and Textile Science, with the College organized into three schools: Accountancy, Business, and Textiles.
