Biographical History
Harry Snyder was born on January 26, 1867 in Cherry Valley, New York. He earned a B.S. from Cornell University in 1889. After graduation, Snyder worked as an instructor and assistant chemist at Cornell (1889-1891). Snyder came to the University of Minnesota in 1891 as a chemist for the Agricultural Experiment Station. He was promoted to professor of agricultural chemistry in 1892. Snyder accepted an additional role as professor of agricultural chemistry and soils in 1907. He left the University of Minnesota in 1909 to become chief chemist for the Russell-Miller Milling Company in Minneapolis. Harry Snyder died on October 11, 1927.
Harry Snyder contributed to the early literature in the field of agricultural chemistry. He authored over 20 agricultural experiment stations bulletins, a number of journal articles on agricultural chemistry and milling, four textbooks and he was on the staff of technical writers for Encyclopedia Britannica .
