Biographical History

Edwin Clifton Hall was born in Brookfield, Vermont in 1845. In September 1862 he volunteered for nine month's service in the 15th Vermont and saw action in Virginia. He was discharged in August 1863 but soon re-enlisted for three more years, through the duration of the war, with the 10th Vermont. He was wounded in the knee at the battle of Cold Harbor, Virginia, on June 1, 1864, and in the thigh at Petersburg, Virginia, on April 2, 1865. He was discharged from the service on June 29, 1865.

After the war he had employment as a newspaper editor in Vermont and Vineland, New Jersey. He kept up his association with Civil War veterans through the activities of the Grand Army of the Republic. He spent his last years at the Vermont Old Soldiers' Home in Bennington where he died in 1913.
